Summer Handbook

Patriot Pals

Summer Camp 2019

The goal of summer at Patriot Pals is to have a fun, safe summer and to learn new skills while improving on others. While at Patriot Pals, we will promote each child’s individualism through an array of activities, and encourage interaction with other children throughout the day. There will be ample time for activities, relaxation, and play so that every child will have an enriching experience.

SIGNING IN/OUT

Parents must sign children in and out of Patriot Pals at the Parent table located in the gym. The table will contain file folders for each child. The folder will need to be check daily for any news. We will also post a weekly menu and also any news that you may need to know. You will need to bring your child in every morning and the parent is to be the one to sign their child in. We will not release your child to someone not on the pick up list, without a phone call from the parent, or a written note from the parent. We will ID anyone we do not know.

YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO BE SIGNED IN BY 10 A.M. EACH MORNING SO THEY DO NOT MISS ANY DAILY ACTIVITIES!!!!!!!

CLOTHING

Please let your child wear comfortable, inexpensive clothing while at Patriot Pals. Many of our activities are messy involving water, clay, paint, mud, etc… We will make every attempt to keep your child clean, but we want them to enjoy each activity they will be participating in and not have to worry about ruining their clothing.

Comfortable shoes are a must. Tennis shoes are the best for our activities (climbing, walking, running, jumping, etc…)  Children will not be able to go on a fieldtrip with flip flops. Shorts must be fingertip length and no tank tops are allowed with spaghetti straps. We will go by dress code of Robert F. Woodall. Please supply extra clothes daily with your children in case of accidents. This will miminze you having to leave work to come and get them.

WATER PLAY

We will have field trips to a pool and will have water play at the school. Parents are responsible for applying and supplying your children with sun block. Our staff will re-apply sun block when we go swimming. Your child should also bring water wings to the pool, so they can enjoy the water more safely. Be sure your child also brings their on towel.

LUNCH

Your child will need to bring a lunch and a drink every day unless otherwise notified. During afternoon snack time children will be not be allowed to go back to their lunchboxes for leftovers. Lunch will typically be eaten around 11:00 each day.

We would prefer lunches to be in a small individual bag or lunchbox. Please do not pack sibling lunches together. Lunches at Patriot Pals should be just as lunches you pack for the school year. Fruit juices, Gatorade, or water are to be sent instead of soft drinks.

SNACK

Patriot Pals will serve a snack each morning at 8:30 and an afternoon snack at 2:30.

GUIDANCE AND DISCIPLINE

Guidelines for normal discipline matters will be handled as stated on our “PATRIOT PALS BEHAVIOR POLICY FORM” (attached.)  This form will need to be read and understood by parent and child, signed, and returned to Patriot Pals.

A “hit to hurt” will result in a phone call to parents and removal of the child from the program for a day.

Any continual or severe behavior problems which cannot be resolved may result in a suspension of a child for a period of time to be determined by the director.

Patriot Pals child care follows the same guidelines as stated for the county schools concerning grounds for suspension including, but not limited to:  violence, fighting, damage, alcohol, drugs, theft, tobacco, firearms and weapons (including toys), immoral conduct and battery to staff.

ITEMS CHILDREN MAY WANT TO BRING

The director must approve all videos and DVD’s; they must have a G or PG rating. Books to read, games (board or hand-held), sports equipment, etc…are great ideas. Everything needs to have a name on it. It is the child’s responsibility to keep belongings together. It is a wonderful idea to put everything in a backpack or duffle bag. Please do not allow your child to bring anything that can get broken or lost. Children at Patriot Pals will be taught and are expected to take care of their own things as well as the property of others. If your child brings electronics, he/she must be responsible and it is adviced to write their name or initials on each game. They are not allowed to share these.

FIELDTRIPS

You must have your child here and ready to go at the scheduled time. We typically will leave for our fieldtrips at 9:00 A.M. There may be changes due to bad weather. Children need to be reminded to stay with the groups at all times. Listen to instructions given by the staff. Safety rules will be reviewed before each trip. If your child will not be going on the field trip, it will be your responsibility to find alternate care for your child on that day.
